Case report

Following images show a case of trisomy 18 demonstrating with a few typical signs.

Images 1, 2: Image 1 shows sagittal scan of the fetal head with slightly prominent occiput. Image 2 shows a four-chamber view of the heart with atrioventricular septal defect.

Images 3, 4: Images 3 shows a four-chamber view of the heart with atrioventricular septal defect. Image 4 shows a 3-vessel view of the heart with the right-sided aortic arch. Note the trachea, between the pulmonary artery and the aortic arch.

Images 5, 6: Images show clenched hand (overlapping of the third finger by the second and of the fourth by the fifth) of the fetus and polyhydramnios.

Images 7, 8: The images show a multicystic kidney.

Images 9, 10: Image 9 and Image 10 show the multicystic kidney. The stomach is compressed by the kidney (resulting in the polyhydramnios)

Images 11, 12: Note the surface of the fetus with hypertrichosis.
